It is my duty as a teacher to treat my students with respect, professionalism, and positivity. Students deserve an education which is informative, positive, and individualized to their needs. Teaching has always been my greatest passion, as I love to inspire and share my knowledge with others. A teacher is an inspiration and guide on a student's journey of improvement, understanding, and appreciation. Through a challenging yet uplifting environment, students will understand how to improve and grow, while continuing to feel confident and proud.

Teaching Statement

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is rooted in respect, technical excellence, and curiosity. I believe the most effective learning environments are built on mutual respect, where students feel supported, challenged, and empowered to take risks. When dancers feel seen and valued, they become more willing to engage fully in the learning process and invest in their own growth.

A strong technical foundation is central to my teaching practice. I emphasize specificity, alignment, musicality, and movement efficiency so that students develop a deeper understanding of how their bodies move. Technique provides dancers with the tools they need to communicate clearly, adapt to different styles, and eventually make informed artistic choices of their own. Once students understand the principles behind movement, they gain the freedom to experiment, innovate, and develop their individual voices.

Equally important is cultivating a spirit of inquiry. I encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and engage with dance beyond physical execution. Whether discussing artistry, movement quality, performance, or the historical and cultural contexts of a form, I aim to help dancers become thoughtful artists who understand not only how to move, but why they move.

My classroom is designed to be both rigorous and accessible. I adapt my teaching methods to meet a variety of learning styles through demonstration, imagery, tactile feedback, verbal instruction, and collaborative exploration. I strive to create an environment where every student feels challenged, supported, and capable of success.

While my core teaching principles remain consistent, I adapt my approach to meet the needs of different age groups and experience levels. With younger students, I emphasize creativity, confidence, and a love of movement while introducing foundational technical concepts in an engaging and accessible way. As students mature, I place greater emphasis on technical refinement, artistic development, critical thinking, and personal responsibility. Regardless of age or ability level, I strive to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow both as dancers and as individuals.

Teaching is one of the most rewarding parts of my work as an artist. I strive to pass along not only the knowledge I have gained throughout my training and career, but also the lessons I wish I had learned sooner. My goal is to help students develop the skills, confidence, and curiosity they need to succeed in dance and in life, while fostering a lifelong appreciation for movement and learning.
